We were delighted to be asked to carry out the wood floor renovation to this beautiful Church. The wood parquet was a mixture of Columbian Pine, Pitch Pine & Antique Pine with each different species of wood being added throughout this lovely Church's history.
There is a visible war wound from the 2nd world war, when a German bomber straffed the church with bullets and emptied its last bombs in the vicinity. The shrapnel marks are still visible and were left in the wood at the request of the Clergy. Although these scars do nothing to enhance the look of the newly renovated floor, they serve as a reminder of some the history associated with this lovely Church. During the renovation work more than one person told us the origins of the burn scar & how they knew somebody who had witnessed the event. The people we had spoken to had been attending this church for many years and it was also a nice surprise to find one of our workers Grandmother had attended this Church for over 60 years.
You will see from the photo's St Winifreds Church's wood block floor was in dire need of repair and underwent a full professional wood floor renovation and dust free sand and seal. The wood blocks were loose in areas and had to uplifted, cleaned and refitted before the dust free sand and seal process could begin. Once the blocks were uplifted, they were cleaned and then a moisture barrier was applied to the area before the blocks were bonded back to the sub floor.
The Church was on a tight time schedule as the work required carrying out quickly as services were being held for Christmas. This schedule was strictly adhered to by our professional wood floor sand and seal renovation teams and was completed on time.
The Bona belt sanders are powerful machines and capable of dealing with the biggest jobs. It is important that dust is kept to a minimum so the Bona dust care system is always used with the sanding machines to keep things dust free in this special environment.
